Basic Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2)

Crucial training for all seafarers on preventing and fighting fires onboard vessels.

This course covers the mandatory minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and fire fighting required by STCW regulations. Participants will learn about the chemistry of fire (the fire tetrahedron), different classes of fire, the correct use of various fire extinguishers, and basic emergency procedures. The course also covers practical fire-team skills: donning self-contained breathing apparatus, making safe entry through a fire door, searching a smoke-logged compartment, negotiating stairways, and the emergency procedure to follow when lost or trapped in zero visibility. This knowledge is vital for ensuring personal safety and the safety of the vessel.
